Molting Season

It’s molting season!

Rabbits shed 4 times per year. But in spring and autumn, they really go all out for molting season.

It's a time when they shed their old coat and sprout a fresh, fluffy new one. If you've ever had a rabbit, you know just how much hair they can leave behind! Tumbleweeds everywhere.

But fear not, bunny loving friends! Here are some handy molting season tips:

1. Brush, Brush, Brush: Make sure to brush your rabbit at least once per day (unless they’re a rex) to help remove loose fur and prevent matting. It's like giving them a luxurious spa treatment! Great way to bond with them too.

2. Feed Fresh Greens: Feed lots of wet lettuce like romaine, green leaf, and red leaf. The extra fiber will help push any ingested hair through their system and keep their tummies properly moving.

3. Monitor Their Poops: Keep an eye out for poop ornaments. When buns ingest lots of excess hair, their poop comes out all strung together. If you’re seeing poop ornaments, it’s time to brush them more and make sure they don’t get a blockage.

4. Hay, Hay, and More Hay: Make sure your rabbit has plenty of hay to munch on. If they don’t love hay, get creative! Mix in botanical hay, foraging mix, rub banana on your hands then run your hands through the hay, etc.

5. Fresh Water: Keep your rabbit's water bowl fresh and clean, as loose hair has a sneaky way of settling on top of the water. Nobody likes a hair-filled drink!

6. Bunny Toupee Time: And finally, if you find yourself drowning in a sea of rabbit fur, why not get creative? Use that excess hair to make a hilarious bunny toupee! It's the perfect accessory for your furry friend's next photoshoot.

And if the fur is too much for your allergies, it’s time to invest in an air purifier. They can’t help it.

So there you have it – the ultimate guide to surviving rabbit molting season!

Happy grooming everyone!
